If you’ve been studying hard, or partying hard, it can take a lot out of you and you can feel drained and stressed.
We all have to deal with different kinds of feelings and emotions. Sometimes we feel happy and excited. At other times we’ll feel sad and down. There are plenty of things that might make you worry. But people feel and react to different things in different ways.
Being a young adult can be a difficult time and there are lots of things that can make you feel stressed out. It’s normal to feel stressed, anxious or lonely from time to time, or that no-one understands us.
There is so much going on in your life that it can be difficult to cope and keep feeling positive. You need to learn to chill out – so start by considering one of these activities.
Exercise is an excellent tension reliever and after a good exercise session you will feel refreshed and full of life. It also gives you the opportunity to think about something completely different – this might be learning a new skill such as self-defence, learning a new sport or going to dance classes. This is a great way to escape the pressures of everyday life.
If you are tense you might want to consider something like Thai boxing or kick boxing so you can punch the pressure out of you! Remember you don’t have to go to a gym – rather than calling someone, walk round to their house or cycle or rather than get the bus or drive into town, and take a walk if it’s a nice day.
Using aromatherapy oils is another good idea – you can use these in oil burners or as massage oils to help relax tense muscles and calm your mind. Just breathing in these oils will create a sense of well-being and relaxation and make you feel better. It’s always good to take an hour out to relax and make time for yourself.
There are many different oils for helping different things such as relaxing or giving you vitality. If you don’t sleep well you can put Lavender oil on your pillow to help you get a good night’s sleep. However, please note you need to check the dosages and read the instructions on the oil bottles as at certain times you need to be careful when using oils e.g.: during pregnancy.
Take time out to listen to some of your favourite music or watch a film. Try to relax and enjoy the moment of time out from your hectic life!
